Applications for the Community Christmas Program are underway. The program provides food and gifts for children in struggling local families. In 2015, 132 donors gave to the program, which assisted 2,732 Sandusky County residents
Applications are available now at Sandusky County Department of Job and Family Services, Birchard Public libraries, Sandusky County Food Pantry, Sandusky County Share and Care, and the United Way of Sandusky County office. Applications are also available here.
Families with children ages 12 and under may request clothing and toys. Seniors, aged 65 or older, may also apply for gifts — this generally includes clothing and household goods. The households of qualifying children and seniors may also request a holiday meal.
Completed applications must be returned by 4:30 p.m. Nov. 23. to the Sandusky County Department of Job and Family Services, 2511 Countryside Drive, Fremont, or United Way of Sandusky County, 826 W. State St., Fremont. They can also be mailed to the United Way office. Social Security numbers must be listed. All persons living at one address should be included in one application.
